Pink Poodle Play
Pretty Poodle Parlor
Estimated time: 5 minutes per child
Supplies:
Directions:
As your poodle partiers arrive, invite them to change into pink poodles. Set up a table with all the items. Kids can put on pink poodle ears, and paint noses and whisker dots on each other's faces. Glitter always adds a fun touch, too.
Puppy Couture
Estimated time: 30 minutes
Supplies:
- pink poodle bean bags (1 per child)
- sequins and glitter
- plastic gems
- lace
- felt and stick-on self-fastening strips
- construction paper and tape
- safety scissors
- colorful pipe cleaners
Directions:
Since Paris is the center of the fashion world, puppies get dressed up, too. Dogs often go along to restaurants and grocery stores looking oh-so-cute in fancy clothing. Give all the kids their own pink poodle, or invite them to bring along a plush puppy of their own to make all fancy at the party. Set out supplies for the kids to create sparkling collars with sequins, glitter and plastic gems. Encourage them to think of a French name for their animals, and decorate a nametag for the collar. Show how to use felt and stick-on self-fastening strips (or paper and tape) to make fancy clothes.
Musical Pink Poodle
Estimated time: 25 minutes
Supplies:
Directions:
Select a plush pink poodle toy and a bag of prizes. Seat everyone in a circle, and put on some lively music. Kids pass around the pink poodle while music plays. When the music stops, the player holding the pink poodle wins a prize and steps out of the game. Continue until everyone has won.
French Puppy Chatter Chain
Estimated time: 25 minutes
Directions:
Poodles love to pass along a message from pooch to pooch until the whole city is barking. Have kids line up at least a few feet apart. Whisper a pink poodle sentence* to the first child; that child then whispers the sentence to the next child, and so on. The last child repeats the sentence out loud. Kids will laugh at how much it's changed! Let kids take turns being first and last. (*Sample sentence: "I love to smell nice—Arf!—with eau de toilette. Arf! Arf!")
BON APPÉTIT!
Café Croissants
Estimated Total Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
- mini fresh or frozen croissants
- cream cheese
- turkey, lettuce, tomato (or cucumber, carrots and lettuce)
\
Directions:
Celebrate with food that has French flair! Purchase fresh croissants or bake frozen ones (miniature size is especially fancy). Slice in half, and spread cream cheese inside. Then fill with remaining ingredients. Trés bon!
Prancing Pink Punch
Estimated Total Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
- ginger ale or lemon-lime soda
- raspberry sherbet
Supplies:
Directions:
Arf! This pink punch is sure to fizz its way into the hearts of all the kids. At serving time, first place raspberry sherbet in a punch bowl (to cut down on splashes); then add ginger ale or lemon-lime soda, and let everyone watch the punch fizz.
Parisian Puppy Biscuits
Estimated Total Time: 45 minutes
Ingredients:
- sugar cookie dough (homemade or store-bought)
- pink frosting (or white with a touch of red food coloring)
- edible glitter and sprinkles
Supplies:
Directions:
These fun-to-decorate cookies will have everyone begging for more. Use dog bone cookie cutters to cut out cookie shapes from rolled-out sugar cookie dough. Allow extra time if making dough at home. Bake and cool. At the party, provide frosting, edible glitter and sprinkles, and let the kids create their own treats!
