VIP Photo Booth
- White butcher paper or sheet
- Paint, paper, fabric or fabric markers (for decorating background)
- Digital camera and photographer
- A Justin Bieber standup
Set up your cool photo booth to help your guests remember what fun they had at your birthday. Any blank wall or background will do; just find an open space and designate that as your backdrop. Then, using a plain sheet or butcher paper, draw a red carpet scene adding the Justin Bieber standup in the center. (If you’re not comfortable with your drawing skills, search for images for inspiration.) Then assign a photographer, and let guests have their picture taken throughout the party.

Name the Star
- Pictures of movie stars
- Pieces of paper
- Poster board
Cut out pictures of movie stars from magazines or print some off of the Internet. Label each picture with a number and stick all of them onto poster board. When your guests arrive give them each a piece of paper with the numbers you chose for each movie star down the side. Each guest then guesses who each star is. The winner with the most correct answer wins.
Mini Pizza Bagels
- 2-Bags plain mini bagels
- 1-Jar marinara sauce
- 1-lb. Mozzarella cheese
Separate mini bagels, spread sauce on each one. Cover with Mozzarella cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are golden and cheese is melted and starting to sizzle.
- Your favorite cake mix
- 2- round one layer cake pans
- Cutting board
- Serrated knife
Bake the two round one layer cakes in the two round cake pans using your favorite box cake mix. Make sure one cake pan is a little bigger. Let the cakes cool completely in the pans after baking. When the cakes are cool turn one bigger cake out onto the cutting board. Turn it over so that the bottom of the cake is on the cake board. Cut the cake into six equal triangle-shaped pieces with the serrated knife. Then, cut the rounded outer edge of each triangle off. Make sure to cut the rounded edges off equally so that each piece of cake ends up being perfect triangles of the same shape and size. Move them aside.
Place the smaller cake bottom-side down on the cutting board. Picture a perfect pentagon shape. Create the shape by cutting off five small equal parts off the rounded edges of the cake all the way around. The shape that is left after removing the five equal slices is the pentagon. Place the pentagon shape on the cake board. Move five of the perfect triangle shapes from the first cake up against the five sides of the pentagon shape. This creates a star-shaped cake. Frost and decorate as desired.
Baked Chicken Fingers with Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce
- 4-Skinless, boneless chicken breasts
- 2-Tablespoons (30 mL) vegetable oil
- 1-Cup (250 mL) bread crumbs
- 2-Tablespoons (15 mL) grated parmesan cheese
- 1-Teaspoons (5 mL) crumbled dried oregano
- 1/2-Teaspoons (2 mL) salt
- 1/4-Teaspoons (1 mL) black pepper
Honey mustard dipping sauce:
- 2-Tablespoons (30 mL) honey
- 2-Tablespoons (30 mL) dijon mustard
- 2-Tablespoons (30 mL) vegetable oil
- Baking sheet
- Large ziplock bag
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Spray a baking sheet with nonstick vegetable oil spray. Cut each of the chicken breasts into 4 or 5 lengthwise "fingers." Place in a bowl. Add the vegetable oil and stir to coat everything evenly. In a bowl, stir together the bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, oregano, salt and pepper. Transfer to a ziplock bag (make sure there are no holes). Add the chicken strips, 3 or 4 at a time, and shake to coat with the crumb mixture. Arrange on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining chicken strips and crumb mixture. Bake for 10 minutes, turn the strips over and continue to bake for another 5 to 10 minutes, until nicely browned and cooked through. Meanwhile, make the dipping sauce. Combine the honey, Dijon mustard and vegetable oil in a food processor or blender. Blend until smooth and creamy. Serve chicken fingers hot or at room temperature with honey mustard dipping sauce. If putting in a lunch bag, pack the sauce separately in a small, tightly sealed plastic container.
Baked French Fries
- 6-Russet potatoes
- 1/4-Cup olive or canola oil
- Salt and pepper
- Roasting pan or baking sheet
- Non-stick vegetable oil spray
- Mixing bowl
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Spray a roasting pan or baking sheet with non-stick spray. Wash 6 russet potatoes. You can peel them or leave the skin. Cut the potatoes into 1/4 to 1/2-inch fries. A thinner fry will cook faster. Put the fries in a bowl and toss them with 1/4 cup olive or canola oil and salt and pepper. At least 1 tsp. salt will be needed. Lay the potatoes on the roasting pan or baking sheet. Make sure they're in one layer and not piled up on top of each other. Cook them in the oven for 30 to 40 minutes until golden brown. While cooking be sure to turn the fries with a spatula, or take out the pan and toss them so all sides get browned.
