Activities
Ollie Ollie Vert Ramp Free
Supplies:
Before the x-treme team arrives, hide toy skateboards around the yard. Once the party has started, send the players on a hunt to find all the toys. After the boards have been recovered, add one to each of your guests' treat bags.
Tricks for Treats
Supplies:
If you are hosting your party at a skate park, give each of your guests a chance to showcase their sick skills. For those that are newbs to boarding or BMX, let them be spectator "judges". A freestyle heat will get them warmed up. Once the real jam session starts, take notes on who is the most original, fastest, raddest, most intense, etc. Award prizes for each category.
BMX Tag
Supplies:
Create a game play area that is large enough to hold all of your guests (Pro-planner Tip: A basketball court works great for smaller parties! It provides a designated area and a smooth flat surface for safer riding). Begin by appointing the birthday boy as "it" and have him move his bike outside of the game area (he will be on foot to help prevent injury during tagging). The rest of the BMX-ers will ride around inside of the game area, trying to avoid the "it" player. The object of the game is for the "it" player to tag out all of the rad racers. The last player to be tagged will start the next game as "it".
Jam the Man
Supplies:
- Skateboard or BMX bike
- Cones
- Ramps
Using a playground or an empty parking lot as your designated area, build an obstacle course that fits your guests' skill level. For beginners, a simple cone creation may be just the ticket. However, more advanced riders will have graduated to ramps and rails. Once the players have gotten a feel for the layout, give them each 3 heats to get the best time. The fastest player wins a prize.
Recipes
Half-Pipe Brownies
Ingredients:
- Boxed brownie mix
- Mini Oreo cookies
- Decorating cake gel
Supplies:
Bake the brownies according to package directions. Let the brownies cool completely before cutting them into rectangles that measure approximately 1" x 3". This will be the board deck. Add the "axels" by pushing a toothpick, horizontally, through the center of the brownie (one in front and one in back). Finish the skateboard brownie by pressing a mini Oreo onto each toothpick's point. Decorate the deck top by piping the guest of honor's initials or age with cake gel.
Sick Sliders
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs. ground beef
- 1 (1.25 ounce) envelope of onion soup mix
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup of shredded Monterrey jack cheese
- 24 silver dollar buns
- 24 pickle slices (optional)
Preheat oven to 350° F. Cover a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray. Combine the ground beef and onion soup mix in a large skillet, and cook over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink. Drain any excess grease and remove from heat. Stir the mayonnaise and cheeses into the ground beef mixture. Lay the dinner roll bottoms on the prepared baking sheet. Spread the beef mixture onto the dinner roll bottoms. Replace the tops and cover the sliders with another sheet of aluminum foil sprayed with cooking spray. Bake for approximately 30 minutes. Serve with sliced pickles (optional).
Dirtpile Cake
Ingredients:
- 1 - Package of Oreo cookies
- 1 – 8 oz. tub of whipped topping
- 1 package of Instant Pudding (Chocolate or Vanilla)
Supplies:
- 1 - 8x8 Baking Dish
- Toy motocross bikes or BMX bikes
Grind up the Oreo cookies in your blender (Pro-planner Tip: Put the Oreo cookies in the freezer overnight. This makes the cookies easier to grind in the blender the next day). Make the pudding according to the package directions and combine it with a tub of whipped topping. In an 8x8 baking dish, begin layering the crushed cookies and pudding mixture (be sure to end with a cookie layer). After the layers have been made, add the toy motocross bikes on top of the "dirt".
Skaterade
Ingredients:
- 1 - 32 ounce bottle of fruit punch-flavored sports drink
- 1 – 2-liter bottle of citrus-flavored soda
- 1 – 2-liter bottle of lemon/lime-flavored soda
Mix all the ingredients together and chill for at least 4 hours. Serve in sports bottles for refreshment on the fly!
